The Role

The Content Analyst supports the Smart Answers team in the development of editorial content and features that provide value to Ask.com users beyond that of traditional, automated search results.  Content Analysts collect and document high-quality, trustworthy, factually-accurate sources of answer content to help create a helpful and friendly experience for our users.  Content Analysts also assist with classification and categorization tasks, ambiguity identification, and other research tasks. In addition, Content Analysts will be asked to help curate existing answer content, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.  A general sense of curiosity is a must, as this role involves researching a vast array of topics.

Your Task

  • Work with marketing to identify opportunities to improve Smart Answers coverage.
  • Evaluate data mining output, query results, and other large-scale data sets for measures of quality, such as relevance, authoritativeness, and accuracy.
  • Contribute to the design of data evaluation projects. Make recommendations on how to improve quality of data sets based on evaluation.
  • Document data set evaluation tasks, projects, and processes.
  • Identify high-quality, authoritative content sources on the web; gather specific information from those sources as requested by the Smart Answers team.
  • Perform quality assurance tasks on Smart Answers and other published content.
  • Use both standard and proprietary tools to assist in content development and publication.

Your Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to assess content quality based on a variety of editorial criteria required.
  • Proficiency in Excel required.  Comfortable with sorting, filtering, string manipulation techniques, etc.
  • Ability to manage and manipulate large data sets required.
  • Proficiency in use of internet search engines required.
  • Experience in development and publication of web content is a plus.
  • Strong writing and communications skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadline-driven priorities required.
  • Familiarity with basic information retrieval concepts preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science-, linguistics- or publishing-related discipline, or equivalent experience preferred.

Junior Product Manager (London, UK)

  • Localisation & Development of existing Ask International Product feature sets
  • Evaluation & Reporting of Product performance

The Task

  • Develop processes for quality evaluation of Ask Products

Your Skills

Localization Specialist (OAK)

(Location: Oakland, CA)

The Role

Ask.com is expanding its global footprint and now has a presence in 25 countries. We are looking for native language speakers of Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Turkish, Indonesian, Thai, Hebrew, and Vietnamese with a passion for the Internet to help evaluate and improve our foreign language sites. The work will include site evaluation, translation, market research and language analysis. It is a great opportunity to gain practical skills and contribute to Ask.com’s international business.

 

Your Task

  • Evaluate Ask.com’s site experience in foreign languages and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Conduct market research to help inform business and product development efforts.
  • Contribute to process improvements for localization.
  • Help translate marketing materials and localize UIs.
  • Conduct various language analyses.
  • Assist with other localization projects.

Your Skills

  • Native speaker of Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Turkish, Indonesian, Thai, Hebrew, or Vietnamese.
  • Passion for the Internet, technology and global markets.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Role Overview
Have you ever wanted to make a big impact?  Here’s your chance!  As a content manager at Ask.com, you’ll be helping millions of users get high quality answers to the questions they ask every day.  In this position, you’ll be responsible for the production of high quality answers, working with vendors and writers to prioritize, review and publish answer content.  It will be your responsibility to ensure the answers our users receive are helpful, informative and offer real value so they keep coming back for more.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vendors and freelance writers to ensure timely delivery of quality answer content
  • Project manage high volume content workflows, continually optimizing
  • Ensure content is properly reviewed and meets quality standards
  • Determine writing priorities and vendor / writer assignments
  • Manage the flow of content from source to publication on the Ask website
  • Provide content governance oversight, making sure content is updated, as required
  • Ensure copy is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice
  • Onboard and train new vendors / writers via editorial guidelines, manuals and examples

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or Communications
  • At least 2 years’ experience at a leading online media company in a content manager or editorial project manager role
  • Proven, strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks at a time
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with content production at scale managing priorities, workflows and editorial calendars
  • Strong technical skills and deep understanding of CMS systems
  • Obsessive attention to detail with outstanding proofreading, fact checking and editing skills
  • Proven track record managing vendors and writers to produce quality content
  • Knowledge of SEO fundamentals and social sharing characteristics
