What is AskCity?
AskCity is a search service that allows you to find Businesses, Events, and Movies for most cities in the U.S. Ask combines these features with a number of other helpful services, such as:
- Driving and walking directions
- Drawing tools so you can mark places on your map and add text notes
- Editorial and user reviews of local businesses, concert halls, movie theaters and more
- Options that allow you to save one location while you search for another one on the same map
- "Save Map" option that allows you to save up to ten of your maps

How does AskCity work?
It couldn't be simpler: just go to AskCity. Type in the name or type of the business, event, or movie you want, and the name of the location (city, ZIP, address, intersections, or even neighborhood) where you want to find it. You'll receive a list of likely results. Click on any of the results and you'll be taken to a map of that result, along with a series of other options to make your local search even better.

How can I find a business listing or business category using AskCity?
Just enter the business name or type of business into the first field and the location (city, zip, address, or intersection) in the second field; then click the "Search Businesses" button.

How do I search for events using AskCity?
Click on "Events" to get into the Events search service. Type in the Artist, Venue or the Event name into the first field and the location (city, zip, address, or intersection) in the second field. Choose a date from the pull-down menu if you like. Then click "Search Events."

How do I search for movies using AskCity?
Click on "Movies" to get into the Movies search service. Type in the movie or theater name into the first field and the location (city, zip, address, or intersection) in the second field. Then click "Search Movies."

How can I get driving directions using AskCity?
Choose "Maps & Directions" to get from point A to point B, If you need directions to another location, click on the "Add Location" field to get from B to C. The option to add another location will come up each time you choose a new location. You can plot a route with up to ten stops!

How can I get walking directions using AskCity?
After you have clicked the "Directions" link, entered your start address, and clicked "Go," simply click on the "Walking" tab.

How can I format and print my AskCity results?
Just click the "Print" link at the top right of the screen. Your AskCity information will be automatically arranged in a printable window.

How can I link to a specific map I created using AskCity?
Just above the map in AskCity, you'll see "Permalink." Clicking on this creates a link to this map (and the results) that you can save. Add it to your bookmarks, post it on your blog-share it as you would with any link.

How can I send someone a link to my AskCity map?
Just above the map in AskCity, you'll see an "Email" link. Clicking on this will automatically create a new email with the link in it. All you have to do is fill in the "To:" address and send!

How do I save my AskCity maps?
After you've done a search and have the results you want, just click on one of the squares on the bottom right that say "Take Snapshot of Current Map." You can save up to ten maps this way.

How long can I keep my saved AskCity maps?
As long as you have used the "Take Snapshot of Current Map" function to save your maps and have cookies enabled in your browser, your maps will be saved. If you do not have cookies enabled, or think that you might clear (or disable) your cookies at some point, you can still save them by opening up a free MyStuff account.

Where do AskCity's star ratings come from?
The 5 star AskCity ratings come from the Best of Citysearch listings, which are based on editorial and user reviews. You can find out more information about these ratings at CitySearch.

Where does AskCity get its reviews from?
AskCity gets editorial and user reviews from a variety of sites around the web including CitySearch, Yelp.com and Insiderpages.

I'm having difficulty accessing AskCity. How do I fix this?
If you can't see or use AskCity, it is likely due to one of two reasons:
1. You're not using a supported browser.
You'll need to use one of these browsers to use AskCity:
- Internet Explorer 6+
- Firefox 1.5+
- Opera 8+
- Safari 2+
2. Javascript isn't enabled in your browser.
To enable JavaScript in Windows Internet Explorer 6+:
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, then click the Security tab.
- Select the Internet zone, and then click Custom Level.
- In the Settings box, scroll down about 3/4 of the way until you see the Scripting section. Under Active scripting, click Enable.
- Click OK, and then click OK again. You can now begin browsing AskCity.
To enable JavaScript in Firefox 1.5+:
- PC: On the Tools menu, select Options.
- Mac: On the Firefox menu, select Preferences.
- Click the Content tab, then click Enable JavaScript.
- Click OK and begin browsing AskCity.
To enable JavaScript in Opera 8.0+:
- PC: On the Tools menu, select Preferences.
- Mac: On the Opera menu, select Preferences.
- Click the Advanced tab, then click Content.
- Click on Enable JavaScript so there is a check in the check box.
- Click OK and begin browsing AskCity.
To enable JavaScript in Safari 2.0+:
- On the Safari menu, select Preferences.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click on Enable Javascript so there is a check in the check box
- Close the Preferences box and begin browsing AskCity.
